We've been a long time in deciding, but we are pleased to announce that Carol Meffert has won the Heartstring Designs Housecalls kit contest for April's kit.

My name is Carol Meffert. I am married to the love of my life and will celebrate our 30th anniversay in November. I have three grown boys and beautiful twin grandbabies. When my second son got a place of his own, I had a spare room and made a wonderful scrapbook room out of it. I love to crop and so does my future daughter-in-law.

My favorite Heartring Designs product is by far - the mat board. I LOVE it! That is what got me hooked on HD. Love it, Love it!

I am from Highland, Illinois, a small town about 25 miles east of St. Louis, MO.

Five of my favorite things are - The now discontinued Kokuyo tape runner (don't know what I will do when I run out of refills!), Stickles, Tim Holtz Alcohol ink, my Cricut, and BasicGrey paper and lots of BLING! Oops! that's six!

If I were stranded on an island and could only have one scrapbook item, I would have to say my Cricut along with an unending supply of paper.

The one product I find myself always grabbing when I am putting a layout together is probably my Dot n Go Glue dots. (Besides the usual cutters and tape runner that is.)

1.    My favorite Heartstring Designs product: If the monthly Housecalls Kit is considered a product, that is definitely my favorite. It is by far the best kit I’ve seen in the industry because it has such wonderful current product every month. Plus it comes with full color layout ideas and instructions. Great for the beginner that wants advanced pages, the intermediate scrapbooker that gets stuck and needs inspiration, or the advanced that wants to receive the latest products every month. If the kits are not considered a product, then certainly the matboard embellishments are my next favorite. They are the perfect thickness for adding dimension to any layout easily distressed or dressed up. I love, love, love them!
2.    I am from Corpus Christi, Texas – Home of Padre Island.
3.    My five favorite things: Cat Eye chalk ink, Zip Dry Glue, Thickers, brads, and mat board embellishments.
4.    One of my biggest inspirations has always been Becky Higgins. I am not an inherently creative person and tend to scraplift most all of my layouts. Becky’s sketches gave me the right amount of guidance while allowing me to really feel like I did the layout myself. I have always admired how she seemed to be able to balance family and working for Creating Keepsakes, and still find time to truly enjoy scrapbooking. I still keep up with her new endeavors.
5.    I guess if I could only have one item it would have to be cardstock. As painful as it would be, I think I could still get a decent page done with just cardstock – of course there would be a bunch of tearing involved.
6.    I use Cat eye chalk ink pads on just about every one of my layouts. I use them on the edges of the background and on the mat board embellishments.

Take a look at this mini album that one of our gals from our design team did with the October Housecalls. I loved how Mandee used the house as the cover. She used the matboard as great dimensional interest. Take a look.

"The only thing that i used on this album that wasn't in the kit was the alpha stickers from my little shoebox and American crafts, and the white pen, everything else is the kit. Oh ya i made the album with a zutter." Mandee Gillen

Here she added a matboard rectangle as a flip in the book. She added the googly eye included in the kit for additional dimension.
